Adult Guidance Service

Hi, we are the Wicklow Adult Guidance Service and we provide information, advice and guidance on your education and training choices. Sometimes people just like to meet us for an informal chat about how they are doing generally.

We help people prepare for their next move – and help them figure out what that is. These are examples of the types of things we help with

  • How do I sign up for a course?

  • What are my options after I finish a course here?

  • Can I go to college?

  • I’ve no Leaving Cert, can I still go to college? (Yes!)

  • How do I pay for college and can I get a grant?

  • I want to find work but don’t know what’s out there

  • I don’t have a CV or need help updating an old one

  • I haven’t done an interview in years, what should I say?

When we’re not meeting clients in the Wicklow office, we are based in Arklow doing the same thing.  We try to be in Wicklow Town on Wed/Thurs/Fri but can meet you any day if you book in advance. Our office is downstairs – just press the bell and we will come out to you.

Since the Pandemic, we can also chat to you by phone or on MS Teams if you would prefer.

Guidance Counsellor Appointments

Please contact our Guidance Counsellor, Seona Hyland with any guidance query or if you do not know where to start. Most people start with one session, which lasts about an hour.  The sessions are tailored to your needs and are focused on helping you figure out a plan.  Seona is available every day until 5pm and her number is 087 7074669.

The service is friendly, confidential and completely free of charge. It is available to anyone living in Co Wicklow, not just students of the FET centres.
